Windows 93 is a fictional computer company run by the artists Jankenpopp and Zombectro. Influenced by Net.art, memetics, media archaeology, glitch, demoscene, underground culture and freeware, the duo developed their artistic work (web apps, music, video, performance, video games, easter-eggs, virus…) via their own online OS (www.windows93.net) that they themselves describe as a love letter to everything the most crazy and creative that computer culture has produced since its beginnings. Following its publication in October 2014, the project became a viral phenomenon in the space of a few hours and has since federated millions of users across the globe.
