Laurent MAURY
CEO @Smart Macadam
Fifity-four years of age, virtually blind at birth, and fascinated by applied mathematics, Laurent’s career path combines entrepreneurship with higher education. Between 1991 and 1997, he held various technological and marketing posts at software companies CGI, Informix, Ingres and Softeam. He devised and created the websites 01net.com and telecharger.com, running and managing them until 2001, before then becoming Director of Electronic Publishing for French daily newspaper Libération, where he was actively involved in the search for online outlets for press media. In 2006, he joined French search engine developer Exalead, where he was tasked with reorganising research projects with the aim of creating a portfolio of products compatible with the needs and expectations of the market. This work resulted in the company being purchased by Dassault Systèmes in 2011. From 2009 to 2016, he helped and supported PMEs and major companies such as Euroconsumers, UFC Que Choiser, Cardif, etc., with their digital transformation. In 2016, while managing a digital services company based in Bordeaux, he came up with the Smart Macadam project. Since 1998, Laurent has been teaching IT on the ‘Masters in Information Technology applied to Business’ course at Paris Descartes University (Department of Mathematics and Computer Science) as well as at several prestigious French specialist higher education establishments (écoles supérieures), namely ECE Paris, Ingesup Paris and INSEEC Bordeaux.
